Job Description

The Football Assistant (Defense) & Equipment Assistant is a vital position to effectively manage a roster of over 130 student-athletes, not only for on field purposes, but for management of program, mentorship of student-athletes, equipment management and recruiting/retention. This position will assist with game planning with Defensive coordinator and will coach a specific segment. This is an on-campus position; full time, 10 months/year position. Responsibilities :

  • Defensive Assistant and Position Coach; organize daily practices for defense with Defensive Coordinator; defensive assistant for JV games; analyze post game film and evaluate entire program at the end of each season; scout and prepare assigned tasks
  • Equipment Assistant for Football; supervise student managers for football program; manage and coordinate with Manager of Athletic Equipment & Transportation and Head Football Coach on all aspects of ordering, inventory, maintenance of equipment related to the football program; coordinate with Facilities Director on stadium organization, equipment and basic maintenance of Tucci; coordinate with Manager of Athletic Equipment on all laundry needs and football locker room maintenance

  • Assist in administration duties with the football program and recruiting efforts; assist in game day travel rosters and set up; overall practice planning, team meetings, and end of season individual meetings; organization of playbooks for each segment with head coach; help organize on-campus visits, high-school visits and camps; recruiting events at high schools and on-campus visits, responsible for assigned territory

  • All phases of Defensive Play for assigned segment and Special Teams assistant; coaching LB’s and DB’s on the field in game management; coordinate meetings with position players and other segments; work closely with and educate players on skill development for physical and mental abilities; work with head coach on defensive special teams, PAT Block, punt return and kick-off

Requirements :

  • Masters’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of one year related experience; knowledge of defensive schemes, LB or DB play/skills
  • Valid Driver’s License
