Job Summary: The Head Football Coach reports to the Athletic Director and is responsible for the organization and administration of the intercollegiate football programs within the policies, guidelines, and rules of the NCAA, the Conference, and Southwestern Oklahoma State University. This includes recruiting quality student-athletes, developing a successful football program, and scheduling. Has overall responsibility for compliance of University policies and procedures and state or federal mandates for responsibility areas. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Provides support services to the department in a manner that professionally, cordially, and efficiently assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors Responsible for recruiting and retaining quality student-athletes to SWOSU’s football program Plan and coordinate practices Monitor academic progress of student-athletes Work cooperatively with the Athletic Director in matters pertaining to the football program Coordinate travel for football team Promote and adhere to NCAArules and regulations Assist as needed with Institutional Advancement in fund raising efforts Cultivate a positive and professional relationship with boosters Promote a positive image of SWOSUthrough participation in community and professional organizations, representing SWOSU at professional meetings and on community committees, and establishing and maintaining credible relations with various news media and other collegiate sports information offices Responsible for the effective and efficient development and utilization of the department’s budgetary funds, this includes overseeing and accountability for budgetary record keeping and usage of monies and scholarships Supervise, train, provide direction, and assign responsibilities for assistant coaches and student assistants Competencies: Ability to multi-task, organize, manage time effectively, and keep tasks appropriately prioritized Remains knowledgeable applicable regulations, policies, and protocols Ability to work with, assist, lead, and take directions from others in the interest of operating SWOSU Football to its optimal efficiency Work Setting: Expectation of on-campus presence with attendance and punctuality Available to assist with situations during or after working hours whether in-person, by phone, or email contact Promote personal safety, safety procedures, and a safe work environment Full-time status 12-month appointment Exempt About SWOSU and Its Athletic Program: With locations in Weatherford, Yukon, Sayre, and online degree programs, SWOSU is one of the leading regional universities in the country. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university Previous successful college coaching experience Recruiting experience and knowledge Strong interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills Must achieve and maintain minimum training requirements in First Aid and CPRwithin first six months of employment Must be willing to travel and maintain a current and valid driver license Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree Demonstrated successful collegiate coaching experience Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the President of SWOSU or their designee may find appropriate
