Reporting to the Director of Athletics and Head Football Coach, the Offensive Assistant Coach- Offensive Line Coach is responsible for performing assistant coaching duties and assisting the Head Coach in the management and administration of the football program in adherence to the policies, rules and regulations of California Lutheran University,
NCAA
and
SCIAC
. The position will also assist with game management functions for numerous intercollegiate sporting events on campus and will serve as on-site liaison/host.
Offensive Assistant Coach- Offensive Line Coach is responsible for coaching, teaching, managing players and assist in operational aspects of the football program. Responsibilities include the organization of offensive practice schedules/ game plans, the organization of team travel and team meals and assist with clinics and camps. The Offensive Assistant Coach will assist in monitoring the academic progress of student athletes, assist with strength and conditioning programs, recruit prospective student athletes and assist the Head Coach in fundraising projects. Additional duties may be assigned by the Head Football Coach.
Responsibilities
Coordinate all efforts at the direction of the Head Coach. E
Assist in the organization and planning of meetings, practices and games. E
Attend and participate in all practices and games. E
Assist in game and practice preparation; film breakdowns/ scouting reports. E
Assist in production of playbooks, position drill books and teaching progressions. E
Coach, teach and demonstrate offensive line techniques. E
Monitor and support academic progress of student athletes. E
Assist with the mentoring of student athletes. E
Supervise student work-study for football department. E
Recruit prospective student athletes. E
Football Equipment Manager- supervise laundry, maintain inventory, organization of equipment check-in/check-out. E
Demonstrate leadership, sportsmanship and conduct becoming to all college and professional sport guidelines. E
Assist with Special Teams. E
Operates a vehicle to conduct work as needed. E
Performs other duties as assigned.

The care and prevention of athletic injuries, basic sports injury first aid and emergency procedures.
Principles of sports leadership and training.

Film analysis techniques; video editing techniques for

film exchange.
Basic liability and risk management issues.
Design and implement recruitment plan for high school and college student-athletes; scout and recruit quality student-athletes.
Coordinate various Division
III
athletic operations including camps, special events.
Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes.
Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with University,
NCAA
, and
SCIAC
rules and regulations.
Objectively evaluate physical skills in the areas of physical potential and mental capability for intercollegiate athletics.
Effectively teach fundamentals, skills, regulations, position details and strategies of football during preparation and practice sessions.
Provide effective leadership to student- athletes to encourage both successful academic development and competitive performance.
Work within a team-oriented philosophy.
Lift moderately heavy equipment and materials.
Provide a safe environment for students, athletes, visitors and other constituents.
Analyze situations and adopt an effective course of action.
Work independently, prioritize, schedule and complete work.
Communicate effectively, in oral and written forms.
Maintain confidentiality of records and information.
Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, guardians, colleagues, administrators, booster groups, foundations, and community organizations.
Maintain files accurately, in paper and in software programs.
Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Operate a personal computer and associated software, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Datatel Recruiter, etc.
Coordinate and work summer camps.
Operate a vehicle to travel and conduct work.
Work flexible hours with frequent evenings and weekends.
Travel locally or nationally.
Any combination equivalent to: bachelor’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, sports management, or related field and two years of coaching and recruiting experience in the sport of football at the collegiate level.
Previous college and/ or professional level offensive line coaching
Successful collegiate recruiting experience
Collegiate football coaching experience, preferably at the
SCIAC
or Division
III
level
Valid California driver’s license.
Ability to obtain a Class B endorsed
CDL
License, insurance coverage (if driving own vehicle) or be insurable.
Possession of or ability to obtain
CPR
(cardiopulmonary resuscitation),
AED
(automated external defibrillator) and First Aid certifications within 90 days
of employment.
Ability to work flexible hours with frequent evenings and weekends is required.
Travel is required.
Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) and hear to exchange information; ability to walk, run, jump, stretch, stand, sit, bend, twist, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; climb stairs, ropes or ladders; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision; ability to demonstrate proper techniques and skills needed for athletic participation; ability to operate a vehicle to travel to various sites to conduct work; ability to maintain level of physical fitness to meet departmental standards.
Working environment includes both indoors and outdoors; exposure to various weather conditions, including temperature extremes; Indoor work environment may not be air conditioned during hot weather; subject to vehicle operation to conduct work; travel is required; frequent weekend and evening hours is required
