This position will be directly involved with high school transcript evaluations for prospective student-athletes (PSA’s) NCAA Initial Eligibility purposes and is directly responsible for training a group of student employees on these procedures. Assist PSA’s with the admissions process and serve as a direct line of communication for PSA’s and their parents. Organize and distribute all admission packets and information as well as submit completed packets to the ICA Compliance office for review by the admissions office. Once a PSA has been admitted to the University of Washington, assist with the coordination of the summer LEAP program, working directly with the Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) staff, ICA Compliance and football staff to distribute and collect all information regarding the program. 40%
Administrative support for the operations and recruiting staffs is also a critical component to this position. The Recruiting Operations Assistant will be responsible for all travel logistics for recruits and their families on official visits (booking flights, rental cars, car services, hotel rooms, etc.). Coordinate with local hotel properties to secure hotel room blocks, reserve social gathering spaces, and facilitate contracts for larger groups. Collaborate with the Compliance Office to ensure recruits are eligible to visit. Complete and submit all final paperwork to the Compliance Office and the Business Office for review. 40%
Advise the student staff working directly with the football operations team. Oversee their responsibilities and adherence to office policies. Oversee and train a group of “Game Day Recruiting Interns” who will assist and provide campus tours and all activities for unofficial visits during home football games. 10%
Work with the SAAS staff in tracking current student-athlete academic progress within the football program and will complete quarterly reports, tracking graduation status for current student-athletes within the football program. Help monitor study table and class checking procedures. Assist with the coordination of public appearance and community service events by current student-athletes within the football program. 10%
Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Pac-12 Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in a regular rules education program offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Minimum Requirements –
High school graduation or equivalent and two years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Requirements –
Experience in a collegiate athletics department, with athletic events, working with high profile individuals and highly confidential/sensitive information. Knowledge and experience with NCAA rules, policies and procedures. Experience with NCAA Initial Eligibility requirements is critical to this position. Computer experience with recruiting databases and basic Microsoft Office programs required; organized, team-oriented, self-motivated, hard worker with excellent communication skills.
Desired –
Bachelor’s degree, computer experience with Recruiting Radar strongly desired; providing UW campus tours and work experience with Husky Football is preferred.
Condition of Employment –
This position requires working some evenings and weekends including during holidays.
