Apply NowThe William Woods University Department of Athletics is seeking a qualified applicant to serve as a graduate assistant to help assist the Owls 23 NAIA sports and competitive outdoor life sports program. The position is responsible for providing support to program management of game day operations of all campus athletic activities, competitions, and events. Responsible for aiding with the management of all student employment related to these programs.
• Provide support to a first-class game day environment for student-athletes, coaches, teams, fans, and visitors. Assist with coordination and support for all home intercollegiate athletic events as assigned.
• Assist with the management of the athletic work study program (i.e., hiring, training, and scheduling).
• Oversee game day student staff, work with other department staff (i.e., Sports Information, Marketing), work with other campus departments (i.e., facilities, security, student activities), as well as outside vendors, and game officials.
• Assist with the staffing and scheduling of game day staff. Train game day staff, support staff and supervisors. Assist with physical setup and breakdown of events as needed. Resolve complaints or problems that arise during events while instilling a Champions of Character game day culture and experience for all to enjoy.
• Assist with management of LEAD calendar for athletic events and inputting LEAD points after events.
• Assist with ticket sales operations utilizing HomeTown Ticketing software and concession stand operations. Oversee all aspects of concession stand operations (i.e., stocking, scheduling workers, and maintaining equipment).
• Assist in the execution of a robust schedule of game day promotions including in-game, half-time and game promotional events driving attendance.
• Provide support and coordination of communications with visiting teams. Assist teams with bus drop-off and pick-up, parking, locker room assignments, practice times, and any other needs as they arise.
• Other duties as assigned.
• A bachelor’s degree; preferably in sports management, athletic administration, business, or a related field
• Independent decision making and ability to exercise good judgment.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member to complete assigned tasks and meet deadlines.
• Organizational, time management, relationship building and communication skills.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Graduate Assistants must apply and be accepted into a master's program at William Woods University.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 30-50 lbs.
• Ability to climb several flights of stairs several times each day and move freely on campus.
• Ability to crouch, kneel, bend, or stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to spend time outdoors and in inclement weather.
• Ability to speak and read English fluently.
• Ability to hear.
• Ability to use a computer keyboard and phone.
• Effective mobility skills required to move about freely and quickly in the office and on campus.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and adhere totheWWU vehicle policy.
Graduate Assistants work an average of 25 hours per week (including days, nights, and weekends).The Graduate Assistant is not required to work during the summer months but may continue to live in campus housing (if awarded) and continue taking classes.
