GENERAL SUMMARY:

Assist in the promotion of CMU Athletics (varsity and reserve) through the daily updating of the athletics website; writing and distributing athletics press releases, including game recaps; maintaining official CMU Athletics Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts; and managing home (varsity/reserve) contests, including official statistics, announcements, photos, and game programs.

This position begins in August 2024, Fall semester

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in updating and maintaining of the CMU athletics website (schedules/results, rosters, photo galleries, etc.); writing, distributing, and posting all athletics press releases to website; designing and printing all athletics publications (game programs, season prospectuses, posters, brochures, gameday graphics etc.); set up and production of livestream of varsity contests, maintaining and reporting official statistics; set up and distribution of online ticketing, coordinating athletics photos, some photography and other assigned duties.

MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in the supervision of student workers in both office and game-day settings.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS :

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, sports management, or related field. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to balance multiple tasks and projects in order to complete them efficiently and on time. Knowledge and/or background in athletics, including statistical record keeping a plus. Excellent computer skills desirable. Must be accepted into the CMU Graduate program

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Some lifting up to 20 lbs. necessary.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premier Pro, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Experience with Dakstats/Presto Stats and web page design preferred. Understanding of and open-mindedness to new technologies.

Regularly requires evening and weekend work.
