Job Summary

This position is responsible for the instruction of how to operate sport equipment safely and efficiently, recruitment of team players, and attendance of all matches and practices.

Essential Job Duties

Instructs student athletes about skills and execution needed to perform the sport of golf effectively and competitively. Serve as academic advisor for Physical Education and Wellness Sport majors, counseling them on which classes within their chosen curriculum needed to register for in order to meet degree requirements. Recruit team members by understanding the productivity of a balanced team, knowing how to recognize athletic ability, and attracting talented players to this university. Attend all matches and practices scheduled. Provide support and advice to the assistant coaches and helpers within the coaching team. Instruct all team members about rules, strategies, and techniques of golf to prepare them for competition. Contribute to a positive work climate and the team effort within the school, as well as demonstrate a positive sportsmanship in everyday situations. Apply Christian standards and attitudes in relationships among cohorts, faculty, staff and students. Ensure that all matters related to the team’s student-athletes adhere to NCAA rules and regulations as defined in the NCAA Division II Manual. Adjust coaching techniques, based on the strengths and weaknesses of athletes. Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of opposing teams to develop golf strategies. Make sure that all student-athletes understand NCAA and GSC rules and compliance standards.

Required Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated coaching and recruiting experience.
