Thiel College seeks an Assistant Men’s & Women’s Golf Coach (PT). This position reports to the Head Men’s & Women’s Golf Coach and the Director of Athletics. The selected candidate will assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the College’s intercollegiate men’s and women’s golf programs while holistically developing student-athletes into leaders.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Teach and instruct student-athletes in the sport of golf as a primary coaching responsibility.
Assist the Head Coach in all aspects of practice preparation, competition preparation, and program operations.
Assist with the instruction and development of student-athletes in technical skills, course management, competitive preparation, and overall athletic development.
Mentor and monitor student-athletes’ academic progress.
Evaluate student-athletes academically and athletically.
Assist in planning and implementing pre- and post-workout programs.
Recruit, retain, and graduate quality student-athletes for Thiel College and the men’s and women’s golf programs.
Support assigned recruiting responsibilities, including prospect identification, communication, campus visits, follow-up, and other activities established by the Head Coach.
Assist with fundraising activities and departmental fundraising initiatives.
Assist with alumni, parent, community partner, and supporter engagement.
Assist with community service planning and implementation.

Serve as a gameday or event administrator when assigned.
Assist with team travel, competition logistics, equipment, and other operational responsibilities as assigned.
Follow all rules and guidelines established by NCAA Division III, the Presidents’ Athletic Conference, and Thiel College.
Perform other administrative and program responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Head Coach.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree is required.
Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience preferred.
Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and other hours necessary to support practices, competitions, recruiting, travel, and departmental responsibilities.

Performance Expectations
Assistant Coaches are expected to work collaboratively with the Head Coach in meeting established performance standards that support the mission and sustainability of Thiel College Athletics.
These expectations include:
Achieving assigned recruiting and roster development targets.
Supporting established student-athlete retention benchmarks.
Fostering a positive and development-focused student-athlete experience.
Contributing to competitive progress appropriate to the program’s established goals.
Engaging alumni, parents, community partners, and supporters.
Contributing to program and departmental fundraising initiatives.
Supporting community engagement and service efforts.
Maintaining appropriate academic monitoring and supporting student-athlete academic success.
Completing assigned administrative, compliance, recruiting, and operational responsibilities accurately and within established deadlines.
Supporting the Head Coach in creating and maintaining sustainable men’s and women’s golf programs.
In addition, the Assistant Coach is responsible for following and actively supporting the Head Coach’s established annual program calendar. The annual calendar should outline recruiting activities, fundraising initiatives, alumni engagement opportunities, academic monitoring strategies, community engagement, and other program priorities during the fall and spring semesters to support student-athlete retention, development, and success.
The College evaluates performance using a comprehensive and holistic approach and is committed to supporting professional growth. When reasonable progress toward established expectations is not evident, next steps may include a performance improvement plan or probation and, when appropriate, non-renewal of the employment appointment, in accordance with College policies.

Successful candidates must adhere to all NCAA, Presidents’ Athletic Conference, and institutional guidelines, policies, and rules. The Assistant Coach is expected to demonstrate professional behavior, operate with integrity, and support the standards and expectations established by the Head Coach, Director of Athletics, and Thiel College.
Position Classification
This is a Casual Part-Time position with a $5,000 annual stipend.
