Rivier Athletics is hiring a Graduate Assistant to support the Athletic Communications Department and staff in promoting and publicizing the universities fifteen varsity athletic teams.
Plan and create strategies for the social media teams and departments accounts.
Assists with website maintenance and graphic design.
Assists with compiling and keeping statistics of multiple teams.
Public address announcing and broadcasting at select games.
Writing pre-game, postgame, and feature stories.
Managing student-workers assigned to sports information duties at events.
Maintain strong working relationships with coaches and staff in the Athletic Department.
Typical Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (minimum credential).
3.0 GPA minimum required for Graduate Admissions.
A basic understanding of a variety of sports and the ability and willingness to learn new sports.
Focused on the student-athlete experience.
Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail.
Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills.
Ability to work nights and weekends as required based on game coverage.
Ability to multi-task and work well in high-pressure environments.
Knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and trends.
CPR and First Aid training certifications are also preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
Self-starter, ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to advocate for and support the academic, personal, and professional needs of the University.
Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff and students and maintain collegial relations.
Flexibility and adaptability in an emerging and changing environment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage confidential information.
Computer skills and proficiency with a variety of computer applications including word-processing, reporting platforms, accounts payable and payroll systems as well as online calendaring and email (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Supplemental Information
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: 29 hours per week, academic year, Monday – Friday, Weekends as necessary
Travel: Minimal travel required for this position. In-state travel is minimal to complete necessary day-to-day tasks. Out-of-state travel may be required for educational conferences, University responsibilities, and accompanying athletic team travel.
