The Franklin Pierce Athletics department is actively seeking qualified candidates for the position of Graduate Assistant for Athletic Communications. This two-year position offers valuable experience, including tuition remission and an annual stipend of $8,000. Please note that housing is not included, and acceptance is contingent upon successful admission to the University’s Graduate School.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Athletic Communications, the Graduate Assistant for Athletic Communications is responsible for, but not limited to, collaborating, planning and implementing a proactive and comprehensive intercollegiate athletics communications operation. Computer skills, including a working knowledge of internet content management systems and Adobe Creative Suite and StartCrew Software is required.
Typical Schedule:
The schedule may vary based on the number of hours needed to meet the job responsibilities. This position may require early morning, evening and weekend hours to meet the needs of the Athletics department/university. Flexibility to work long, irregular hours with possible evenings, weekends and holidays.
Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions of the Position: - Works with selected sports as identified in conjunction with the Director. - Serves as the Department's lead external relations professional on assigned sports. - Writes/disseminates press releases, manages web/social content and oversees game day operations for assigned sports. - Assists the Director in the development and implementation of high-level video and social media strategies to promote the department, engage alumni and enhance resources. - Assists with marketing initiatives and special events planning, as identified by the Director of Athletic Communications. - Assists with the planning and execution of such initiatives, including, but not limited to: annual golf tournament, Hall of Fame induction, student-athlete banquet, publicity photo shoots, game day marketing events, etc. - Assists Director in the department web presence including oversight of strategies, development, maintenance and recordkeeping. - Oversight of press box (or equivalent space) at all home events for assigned sports.
