Williams Baptist University is seeking a passionate and committed individual to serve as a Graduate Assistant Cheer Coach. Position Summary
The Graduate Assistant Cheer Coach will assist the Director of Spirit Squads in leading all aspects of the cheerleading program, with a focus on skill development, recruitment, and fostering a Christ-honoring team culture. This role plays a key part in preparing the team for athletic and community events, campus activities and national competitions.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning and leading daily practices, emphasizing stunting, tumbling, choreography, and conditioning.
• Provide one-on-one and group coaching to support athlete development athletically, academically, and spiritually.
• Support game day and event performances, including home athletic events, pep rallies, and community appearances.
• Aid in coordinating any travel, fundraising , and preparation for all required events.
• Fully Participate in recruiting efforts by attending events, evaluating potential athletes, and upholding WBU’s Christian mission.
• Help maintain gear, uniforms, and practice space organization.
• Communicate with team members regarding schedules, travel, and program updates.
• Contribute to creating a team culture rooted in encouragement, discipline, and Christ-centered values.
• Administrative responsibilities such as rosters, schedules, and team correspondence.
• Accompany the team to off-campus events and assist with travel coordination.

• Ensure safety standards and guidelines are maintained during all cheer activities align with NAIA and USACheer.
• Attend required university and athletics meetings and training.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Spirit Squads.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or current enrollment in a WBU graduate program (preferred fields: education, sports management, or related areas).
• Minimum of 1–3 years cheer experience, preferably at the collegiate level.
• Demonstrated knowledge of stunting, tumbling, choreography, and cheer safety practices.
• USACheer certification required (or willingness to obtain).
• CPR/First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain).
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed.
• A strong Christian faith and a passion for mentoring student-athletes in a faith-based setting.
