Summary

Under the direction of the Head Football Coach and Assistant Coaches, the Graduate Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting in all aspects of coaching, planning, directing and developing sport and position specific skills of Student-Athletes in the football program.

Responsibilities*

• Assist in the instruction, management and teaching of Student-Athletes in assigned positional area.
• Assist in the development and execution of game/practice plans, coaching strategies and teaching methods.
• Assist coaching staff members with all recruiting and administrative responsibilities.
• Be responsible for organizing opponent scout team personnel and practice assignments.
• Assist the breakdown of team and opponent video.
• Assist the coaching staff with game day play charting and provide in-game coaching as needed.
• Provide administrative support as directed.
• Daily contact and communication with prospective student-athletes, as allowed by NCAA rules and guidelines.
• Coordinate dissemination of weekly scouting reports and lead scout team personnel daily meetings.
• Supervise and manage subordinate personnel (analysts, interns, student assistant coaches, student managers).
• Other duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach, members of the football staff and administrators.

Required Qualifications*

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Must meet all University of Michigan Graduate School admission standards.
• Must have received first baccalaureate degree within the previous seven years, not including any time spent under contract as a professional athlete.
• Preferred candidate will have had college and/or professional football playing experience.
• Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must have a service-oriented attitude.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines and work effectively with frequent interruptions.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a solutions-focused approach to challenges and improvements.
• Demonstrated ability to utilize good judgment in the interpretation and application of policies and procedures and to exercise discretion in confidential matters is essential.
• Excellent computer skills.
