The successful candidate will be able to maintain a team depth-chart for each event-group, identify and contact viable prospective student-athletes in accordance with team needs and coordinate unofficial and official visits under the supervision of the senior staff. 3. Ability to manage team social media accounts
a. Must be able to adhere to UWG Athletics social media policy
b. Knowledge of photography and ability to use photographic equipment preferred
c. Ability to work closely with UWG Sports Information, providing images and content to be shared with UWGSports.com and team social media accounts preferred (15%)
4. Help monitor academic success of student athletes.
a. Help manage academic oversight for marginal students in conjunction with the Academic Resource office. This task will under direct supervision of senior coaching staff.
b. Provide general academic support ¿ particularly to freshmen and new transfer students (20%)
5. Must have a good understanding of the discipline(s) and strategies across the spectrum of our programs (cross country and track & field) in order to:
a. Provide support to coaching staff during practice sessions
i. Must have familiarity with dynamic warm-ups and drill sessions and be able to monitor these activities prior to practice
ii. Must be able to lead/monitor drills, general strength and flexibility sessions
iii. Aid in monitoring practice sessions and gather relevant data on each athlete
b. Must have good organizational skills and the ability to learn and adhere to the training strategies of the coaching staff (20%)
6. Must have, or be able to obtain a valid driver¿s license and pass the UWG driver¿s course in order to be eligible to drive for the program(s)
7. High level of fitness must be maintained in order to be physically able to perform strenuous activities required in practices and at competitions.
a. Ability to lift and move equipment, push equipment carts, load and help to carry items such as team tents, supplies and equipment (pole vault poles, throwing implements etc.).
b. Ability to quickly cover fairly significant distances in order to record split/cumulative times at practice and meets
c. Ability to aid in pre-competition activities such as scouting cross country courses and pre-race warm up activities
8. Must have good computer skills.
9. Familiarity with NCAA regulation and ability to pass the NCAA D-II recruiting test preferred
10. Excellent communication skills preferred
11. Must be available for all competitions unless previously excused by Head Coach
Track & Field ¿ Speed/Power Assistant
a. Position reports to Head Coach Ryan Bailey
b. This G.A. will work directly with Coach Tony Hawkins on a daily basis
i. Knowledge of speed/power events preferred
ii. Experience in at least one speed/power event preferred
1. Jumps
2. Sprints
3. Hurdles
c. Experience with meet organization / meet management preferred
d. Must have a valid driver¿s license and a good driving record
e. Other tasks will be assigned as needed
f. USATF or USTFCCA certification(s) preferred
