Located in the upstate region of South Carolina, Southern Wesleyan University sits just minutes from Clemson University of the ACC. The Graduate Assistant for Compliance and Event Management is a 9-month, part-time, temporary, non-exempt position (August 2023-May 2024) and is renewable after a year. A $5,000 stipend is available along with 50% tuition discount towards SWU graduate program. Weekend and night work will be required.
This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics and is considered a member of the Department of Athletics and Student Life staff. As a member of the Department of Athletics and Student Life staff, the individual will participate in Department of Athletics and Student Life functions as requested.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Associate Athletic Director with Compliance and Event Management
Assist the Athletic Director with daily responsibilities
Provide assistance with daily compliance responsibilities
Compile and distribute Compliance education material
Create content for Southern Wesleyan Compliance social media sites
Assist with set-up, breakdown of event venues on event day
Assist with event supervision of home events
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborates with other Student Life departments and the broader campus community to facilitate a seamless educational experience and foster holistic student development. This will include university committee assignments.
Attend team, Department of Athletics, and Student Life meetings when not in conflict with academic requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor’s degree is required. Must have an established record of excellent mentoring relationships with students, collegial relationships with staff and faculty. Excellent event management skills and strong organizational and administrative skills are also necessary.
Graduate assistants must be enrolled full-time in a Southern Wesleyan University graduate program.

Physical/Environmental Requirements
Visual acuity necessary to do editorial work, proof documents, and manage files.
Requires ability to engage in outside activity and, occasionally, inside. May require lifting of objects up to 40 pounds.
Requires ability to work a flexible schedule.
Driving. Must have a clean driving record and valid driver’s license.
Pre-employment Screening. Employment is contingent on the completion of a criminal background screening.
