Position: Graduate Assistant Field Hockey Coach

Fairfield University is currently seeking a graduate assistant field hockey coach.  In keeping with the University’s Jesuit mission and identity, candidates must be committed to the equity, welfare, and sporting conduct of our student-athletes.  

The graduate assistant coach will be responsible for assisting the Head Coach in all areas of program development and operations, supporting a competitive NCAA Division I field hockey program.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as an assistant coach for the field hockey program

• Assist in the planning, organization, and execution of practices

• Contribute to game preparation, scouting, and film analysis

• Support recruiting efforts, including prospect evaluation, communication, and organization of recruiting data

• Provide administrative support related to team travel and daily program operations

• Assist with purchasing, accounts payable processes, and budget-related tasks

• Assist with equipment and apparel ordering, inventory, and management

• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach and Assistant Coach

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required

• Collegiate field hockey playing and/or coaching experience

• Knowledgeable of and committed to following Fairfield University, NCAA, and Coastal Athletic Conference (CAA) rules and guidelines

• Highly motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic

• Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Preferred, but not required: Experience with video analysis technology (e.g. Spiideo)

Reports to:  Head Field Hockey Coach

This position includes a stipend of $12,000 , in addition to tuition remission for up to 18 credits per year. The appointment is a one- or two-year commitment, depending on the selected graduate program. Additional income opportunities may be available through summer camps.
