Athletics Advising Graduate Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to: mentoring student-athletes; assisting Athletics Academic Advisors with the support of student-athlete academic goals, and determining the educational support needs of student-athletes.This is a student position open to current UIW graduate students.
Assist athletics academic advisors and student-athletes with academic advising issues. Conduct weekly academic meetings with assigned student-athletes. Serve as a point of contact for information and academic referral service to student-athletes. Create and maintain Athletics Academic social media platforms and newsletter. Conduct student workshops on student success skills. Assist in collecting data and preparing reports for athletics academic advisors in all aspects of academic support services. Assist in meetings with recruits as needed. Maintain the confidentiality of student records. Other duties as assigned by the director of advising and/or athletics academic advisors..
Qualifications
Ability to work collaboratively. Strong interest in pursuing a career in athletics academic advising. Ability to plan, develop and conduct training for student-athletes. Excellent verbal, written, and technical communication skills. Highly proficient with Microsoft products. Strong organizational, presentation, and customer service skills. Ability to work with professionalism and confidentiality. Organizational skills and attention to detail. Willingness to work evenings and weekends. Willingness to take initiative. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Bachelor’s degree.Currently enrolled or accepted to a graduate program at the University of the Incarnate Word; must be in good academic standing as a UIW graduate student.
BilingualExperience working with student-athletes
Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
