Under the general direction of the Director of Athletics and the Men’s Basketball Head Coach, the Graduate Assistant for Men’s Basketball is responsible for training and recruiting student-athletes. Other duties will include assignments in one or more areas in athletics: fundraising, game management, alumni relations, fitness center supervision, intramurals, event planning, sports information and social media. Instruction should include, but not limited to the rules, strategies, and techniques relating to practice and competition in this sport. The Graduate Assistant will also support the mission and goals of the Athletic Department.

Strong computer proficiency in internet applications, SportsWare, Google System and Microsoft Office Suite Productivity products, such as, Microsoft Word, Excel & Powerpoint. Proficient with internet and email; and ability to learn new applications quickly including organization-wide information systems and department-specific software applications.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret medical documents and NCAA guidelines. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customer, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts timely and accurately, either manually by using a calculator which apply to team management. Ability to apply concepts to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to hypothesize, draw conclusions, and support conclusions. Ability to work in theoretical arena and apply logic as appropriate.
