Position Summary: This position is responsible for assisting in the operations of home athletic events and for enhancing the experience for community members and providing a greater content presence for branding, in athletics.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Serve as game day manager for fall, winter and spring sports. Assist with all event responsibilities including set up and take down and overseeing events. Responsible for initiating contact with all visiting athletic teams to identify gameday needs. Coordinate the set up and take down for home athletics events.
On-site supervision of event management student workers. Coordinate home athletic events by facilitating student worker staff. Oversee the hiring, training, work performance, and evaluation of student workers for the event management team.
Assisting in developing a strategic marketing and promotion plan to increase awareness, engage and entertain fans, and increase attendance for all athletic programs. Promote all programs and special events through community relations by organizing internal and external community groups. Oversee all game day promotions surrounding home athletic events through the creation and execution of game presentation, production and scripts.
Other Functions:
-Develop relationships within Benedictine University and the University community.
-Attend departmental and University related meetings and events.
-Maintain a positive student athlete assessment for program from student athletes.
-Work in coordination with University offices and departments to coordinate and facilitate University events.
-Maintain positive relationships with alumni, parents, students, officials, volunteers and fans.
-Serve on University, conference and national committees as needed.
-Positively promote Benedictine University and the Department of Athletics on campus and in the community.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree Required
Experience: Experience within a collegiate athletic environment preferred, at the NCAA Division III level desired.
Qualifications: Applicant must obtain acceptance into a Benedictine Graduate program of Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Business Analytics, Master of Science in Management & Organizational Behavior or Master of Public Health.
Specific Skills: Organizational skills, writing and typing skills, interpersonal skills, data entry and budget management skills and demonstrated supervisory skills.
Specific Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications: Yes ,Valid driver’s license, and CPR/First Aid/ AED certification.
Physical Requirements: May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. Must reach, bend, stoop, lift. Must sit, walk or stand for long periods of time. Ability to handle varying levels of stress while maintaining professional demeanor. Possible lifting, bending, walking, kneeling, stretching, and stooping. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun/heat or cold weather.
Ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand. Understand the speech of another person. See details of objects that are less than a few feet away or are more than a few feet away. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. General Customer service and office environment.
