REPORTS TO: ASSISTANT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR FOR SPORTS OPERATIONS
STATUS: PART-TIME, EXEMPT
Lake Erie College, located in Painesville, OH, invites applications for the position of graduate assistant, Game Operations & Facilities responsible for duties as assigned by the associate director and will manage a secondary responsibility, as defined. This is a 10-month appointment, each year, for two consecutive years, pending successful evaluation at the end of year one.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Helps hire, train and manage staff of interns, student workers and other event staff.
Helps coordinate and oversee all game and special event management.
Serves as primary contact for selecting athletic facility rentals.
Conducts athletic facility walk through and evaluation on regular basis for maintenance, safety and upkeep; researches and implements ideas to enhance branding, equipment, technology and environment at all facilities.
Helps manage all athletic facilities and grounds under the control of the department of athletics and serves as a liaison to LEC Physical Plant and Painesville City Department of Recreation.
Assists in the planning and scheduling of all departmental sports practices, contests, camps and clinics to share and prepare facilities.
Attends weekly Internal Operations meetings to collaborate on all upcoming contests, facility bookings and plan staff coverage.
Supervises the Osborne Family Wellness and Athletic Center and student workers during designated times.
Helps coordinate, direct and supervise all aspects of home game and special event management to include concessions, event/game staff, game officials, visiting team coordination, traffic management, parking, gate/entry control, crowd control, etc.
Works cooperatively with faculty/staff, College leadership, athletic administration, head coaches and student-athletes on behalf of athletic interests.
Ensures a positive game environment and atmosphere, along with pre-game, half-time, timeout coordination and preparation of game protocol/countdown information.
Provides administrative and clerical support to the athletic department.
Helps direct procurement of transportation services for all teams. Assists with team equipment inventory and laundry.
Projects and promotes an inclusive education with the highest standards, where student-athletes are empowered to leave lives of personal significance and professional success as global citizens.
Acts as an ambassador of the College and conducts oneself in a positive manner to heighten the awareness of the institution to all of its constituents.
Operates within the mission of the College and athletics department to ensure a full NCAA DII student-athlete experience.
Follows all institutional, GMAC and NCAA regulations.
Availability to work evenings and weekends and to travel for team practices, competition and scouting.
Assists with transportation of team in vans or bus, upon approval.
Other duties as assigned by assistant director of athletics for sport operations or director of athletics.
Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in physical education, sports management, or related field preferred.
Acceptance into a Lake Erie College graduate program required.
Knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, rules and regulations of athletic associations and conferences.
Stat crew experience.
Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
Ability to edit and create highlight videos.
Knowledge of AP style.
Experience managing social media campaigns.
Experience in public announcing.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff,
and the community.
Valid driver’s license and approval for driving through the Business Office.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

Strong organizational skills with ability to attend to details.
Ability to work independently on assigned projects and initiatives.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Qualified applicants will have the availability to work evenings and weekends, possess a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record and have the ability to travel for team practices, competition and recruiting.
All members of the department of athletics are responsible for knowing and following all institutional, Conference and NCAA regulations regarding recruiting and operations of the program. If regulations are not followed and result in a violation, employees are expected to self-report theviolation to the compliance office or to the director of athletics. Additionally, employeesmust understand that those who knowingly violate, conceal, or attempt to cover up violations of NCAA rules shall be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
