Graduate Assistant, Gameday Event Operations

Description

The Graduate Assistant for Gameday Event Operations supports the planning, coordination, and execution of all athletic events for New College of Florida. This position will work closely with Athletics administration, coaches, facilities, sports medicine, communications, and other campus partners to help provide a professional, safe, and consistent gameday experience for scholar-athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators.

In addition to gameday responsibilities, the Graduate Assistant will report directly to the Vice President of Athletics & Recruitment on matters related to the overall varsity and junior varsity/reserve scholar-athlete experience. A key responsibility of the position will be helping assess whether teams are receiving equitable operational support, resources, and gameday experiences across the department.

Examples of Duties

• Assist with the planning and execution of all athletic events, including facility setup, equipment, staffing, signage, team areas, officials, visiting-team needs, and post-event breakdown.
• Coordinate with coaches, facilities, sports medicine, communications, campus safety, and other departments to ensure gameday requirements are identified and addressed in advance.
• Develop and maintain gameday operational checklists and event plans for each sport.
• Assist in scheduling and coordinating student workers and other gameday personnel.
• Monitor gameday operations and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, safety, and the overall scholar-athlete and spectator experience.
• Work directly with the VP of Athletics to evaluate the operational experience being provided to varsity, junior varsity, and reserve programs.
• Help ensure that teams throughout the department receive equitable levels of operational support and that appropriate minimum standards are maintained across sports.
• Regularly communicate observations, concerns, resource needs, and recommendations to the Vice President of Athletics.
• Assist with the development and management of gameday budgets, including projected costs for staffing, officials, security, sports medicine, facility needs, equipment, supplies, and other event-related expenses.
• Track gameday expenditures and assist Athletics administration with evaluating actual expenses compared with budget allocations.
• Help develop sport-by-sport gameday budget projections and identify opportunities to use departmental resources efficiently.
• Maintain accurate records related to gameday operations, expenses, staffing, and event needs.
• Assist with special events, tournaments, championships, scrimmages, and other Athletics department activities as assigned.
• Serve as an on-site Athletics administration representative at designated home events.
• Assist with special projects and departmental initiatives as assigned by the Communications Department, Sports Information Director, and Vice President of Athletics.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of Athletics and institutional priorities.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Acceptance and continued enrollment in the applicable New College of Florida graduate program.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, administrators, scholar-athletes, officials, and campus partners.
• Interest in collegiate athletics administration, event management, budgeting, communications, or athletic operations preferred.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends based on the Athletics competition schedule.
• Ability to exercise good judgment and represent New College of Florida Athletics professionally.
