Job Description Summary

Under the supervision and guidance of a head coach, the graduate assistant (GA) coach aids in all phases of coaching and mentorship of the Division II Softball program including student-athlete recruitment, game preparation, player evaluation, academic coordination and practice and game day coaching.

Job Description

Duties and Tasks:

  • Assists head coach in teaching team members the individual skills and techniques associated with the sport.

  • Assists head coach in implementing game tactics and strategy. 

  • Guides team members on proper nutrition needed for optimal performance at the collegiate level. 

  • Guides team members through strength and conditioning training.

  • Mentors team members on proper time management strategies to balance academic and athletic team demands.

  • Mentors team captain on leadership. 

  • To instruct, monitor, counsel and assist student athletes to make sure that they meet satisfactory progress and eligibility rules.

  • Provides appropriate leadership, direction, and supervision relevant to the academic progress and personal development of student-athletes within the program

  • Create a positive and productive environment for the student-athletes.
