LOCATION:  Wayland Baptist University – Plainview Campus 

SUPERVISED BY:  Head Coach & Athletic Director 

POSITION CLASSIFICATION:   Non-Exempt 

POSITIONS SUPERVISED:  None

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:   The Graduate Assistant is responsible for assisting in all facets of athletics operations that are assigned by the Head Coach and Athletic Director. 

SPECIFIC TASKS AND DUTIES: **  **

• Knowledgeable of, and compliance with, Wayland Baptist University, SAC, and NAIA rules and regulations.
• Models Christian attitudes and behaviors for student athletes, students, staff, and fans.
• Assists in recruiting student athletes.

• Models Christian attitudes and behaviors for student athletes, students, staff, and fans.
• Assists in recruiting student athletes.
• Assists in designing practice and game plans for the reserve team.
• Assists with the management of athletic equipment.
• Assists in preparation of soccer field for practices and games.
• Assists in driving team vans to away games.
• Maintain effective working relationships with coaches, student-athletes, and other staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Must have a Bachelor’s degree; must be enrolled in Wayland Baptist University’s Master’s Program.

Experience and Knowledge:

Coaching or Playing experience at the collegiate level preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

1. Be supportive of Wayland Baptist University mission and lifestyle.
2. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to be student-oriented with empathy for the academic demands of the student-athlete.
3. Demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Employment is subject to an introductory period to monitor employee performance.   If hired, the prospective employee must present documentation within three (3) days of hire date to establish their identity and employment eligibility as required by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).  Employee must be able and willing to travel and recruit. 

Must be able to operate a licensed motor vehicle, have access to a dependable motor vehicle, and possess a valid state driver’s license.  Must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record.
