Position Summary:
This position is responsible for assisting the women’s indoor volleyball and beach volleyball programs with the recruitment and retention of student-athletes while working to ensure the best student experience possible for the members of the Benedictine University Volleyball.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Assist the Indoor and Beach programs with the identification and successful recruitment of qualified student athletes to help place the program in a position of competitive leadership in the GSAC (Great Southwest Athletic Conference).
Responsible for coaching and mentoring student-athletes as well as assisting with game and practice plans, and coaching in all traditional and non-traditional segments that will place the program in a position of competitive leadership in the GSAC (Great Southwest Athletic Conference).
Responsible for assisting the head coach, program and university personnel with the retention of student athletes. This includes social and academic support, meeting regularly with the student athletes to monitor their academic progress to ensure players are investing time and effort required to be successful in the classroom.
Other Functions:
- Develop relationships within Benedictine University and the University community.
- Attend departmental and University related meetings and events.
- Maintain a positive student athlete assessment for program from student athletes.
- Work in coordination with University offices and departments to coordinate and facilitate University events.
- Maintain positive relationships with alumni, parents, students, officials, volunteers and fans.
- Serve on University, conference and national committees as needed.
- Positively promote Benedictine University and the Department of Athletics on campus and in the community.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree Required
Experience: coaching or playing experience and extensive knowledge of the sport at the collegiate level preferred.
Qualifications: Applicant must obtain acceptance into a Benedictine Graduate program of Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Management & Organizational Behavior or Master of Public Health.
Specific Skills: Organizational skills, writing and typing skills, interpersonal skills, data entry and budget management skills and demonstrated supervisory skills.
Specific Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications: Yes, Valid driver’s license and CPR/First Aid/ AED certification.
Physical Requirements: May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. Must reach, bend, stoop, lift. Must sit, walk or stand for long periods of time. Ability to handle varying levels of stress while maintaining professional demeanor. Possible lifting, bending, walking, kneeling, stretching, and stooping. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun/heat or cold weather.
Ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand. Understand the speech of another person.
