Position Summary

The Football Graduate Assistant at Upper Iowa University reports directly to the Head Football Coach and is responsible for assisting the football coaching staff in the planning and execution of all aspects and facets of the Upper Iowa football program. This is a 10-month position with the opportunity to renew for a second year which is subject to the individual maintaining a 3.0 GPA and meeting University expectations. Compensation includes a $1000 monthly stipend and tuition assistance. 

Position Responsibilities

• On-field coaching and player development including sport-specific skills on both an individual and team basis with a defensive focus.
• Plan, organize, conduct, and evaluate practice sessions.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate game plans and strategies for assigned defensive positions. 
• Successfully analyze film, develop scouting reports, and facilitate position meetings.
• Serve as a leader, mentor, and role-model to student-athletes of the program through teaching life skills and encouraging positive character development.
• Monitor and support academic progress and eligibility of student-athletes.
• Assist with recruiting, retaining, and graduating student-athletes who contribute to the success of the program while following NCAA, NSIC, and UIU standards and regulations.
• Oversee and assist with all administrative duties and processes as assigned.
• Ensure compliance with all department, university, NCAA, and GLVC policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications 

• Applicants must be admitted into a graduate program at Upper Iowa University and maintain a Grade Point Average of 3.0. 
• Applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree. 
• Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary. 
• A valid driver’s license and ability to meet the requirements to drive University vehicles required. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Collegiate playing experience and/or football coaching experience and an understanding of NCAA Division II rules and regulations.
