The Hall of Athletics Receptionist will play a major role as gatekeeper for anyone who enters the Booth Family Hall of Athletics. The Receptionist will be responsible for welcoming all Kansas Athletics guests, visitors, and prospects in a friendly, positive manner; answer phones, transfer calls, answer questions, give directions, and manage the flow of traffic in the Hall of Athletics entrance. In addition, this position will assist with the daily operations including opening/closing procedures, monitoring the security of artifacts and presentation of the Hall, and assisting with research or scanning projects as assigned.

Position Summary:

The Receptionist will be responsible for welcoming all Kansas Athletics guests, visitors, and prospects in a friendly, positive manner; answer phones, transfer calls, answer questions, give directions, and manage the flow of traffic in the Hall of Athletics entrance. In addition, this position will assist with the daily operations including opening/closing procedures, monitoring the security of artifacts and presentation of the Hall, and assisting with research or scanning projects as assigned.

Responsibilities of all Positions at Kansas Athletics:

1. Adhere to University, Big 12 Conference, Kansas Athletics and NCAA policies and procedures;
2. Maintain knowledge of departmental activities, sports schedules and procedures;
3. Foster cooperative working relationships with immediate supervisor and staff members who work within or outside his/her work unit;
4. Support the athletics departmental goals and philosophies as described by the Director of Athletics, and work to achieve and uphold the department’s mission statement and core values;
5. Maintain a positive attitude toward performing job duties and working with other staff members;
6. Exhibit professional decorum at all times while representing Kansas Athletics, including routine events and meetings that occur outside of the office and on the road;
7. Maintain the confidentiality of all information obtained while an employee of Kansas Athletics including all private, confidential, or sensitive information and ensuring compliance with FERPA, HIPAA, and other applicable regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

1. Provide excellent customer service to all guests, visitors, vendors, student-athlete prospects who enter the Booth Family Hall of Athletics;
2. Provide general reception duties, including attention to walk-in traffic, incoming and transfer phone calls, correspondence with Kansas Athletics staff members, handle basic inquiries, provide directions, and manage the overall flow of traffic in the Hall entrance;
3. Perform opening and closing procedures;
4. Assist the Curator with the Hall monitoring to ensure cleanliness, presentation, and security of historical artifacts;
5. Assist the Curator with special research or scanning projects, as assigned;
6. Performs other tasks as assigned by the Director of Athletics or their designee.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent;
• A minimum of one-year professional working experience in an office setting;
• General working knowledge of computers and technology applications;
• Excellent customer service focus and skills;
• Ability to effectively communicate with people in a pleasant and professional manner and demonstrate professional phone etiquette;
• Must be available and willing to commit to an average of 15 hours per week, and actively demonstrate commitment by maintaining a consistent and predictable work schedule.

 ** Preferred Qualifications:**

• University of Kansas student, in good academic standing;
• Federal Work Study eligible;
• Knowledge of Kansas Athletics history, sports, and traditions.

Salary Details: $10.00 per hour; hourly, non-exempt; paid monthly (12 pay periods).

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and various digital devices, including, but not limited to:  cell phone, printer, copy machine, and other related devices. This job requires flexibility, adaptability and the ability to perform job=related duties on short notice.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This position may require frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 25 pounds; sitting or standing up to four to six (4-6) hours each day.

There is no travel for this position.

 ** Hours of Work**

This is a part-time position with no benefits and will average 15 each week.  Kansas Athletic hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
