Position Description:
Reporting to the Athletic Director, this position plays a vital role in the success of the Department of
Intercollegiate Athletics. Primary responsibilities will include overseeing the entire Athletic Training
Department insuring appropriate medical care to all 24 intercollegiate athletic teams.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and manage protocols and policies pertaining to athletic training services.
• Oversee athletic training staff hiring, support, and professional development, including in-
service education.
• Direct oversight of daily operations of all athletic training facilities ensuring appropriate practice
and game coverage
• Direct supervision and evaluation of athletic training staff of at least 5 other athletic trainers (as
pertains to athletic training services) including peer review and performance appraisals.
• Daily care coordination with all staff physicians, orthopedic consultants, and sports medicine
fellows providing patient care.
• Develop and review sport assignments and daily work schedules for athletic trainers.
• Develop and manage emergency action planning.
• Coordinate a system of inventory and control for the disbursement of supplies.
• Direct and supervise data collection and synthesis regarding the incidence of athletic injury and
the utilization of the Athletic Training treatment facilities.
• Oversight of Athletic Training budget, inventory, ordering, and disbursement of supplies
• Representative of Athletic Training at Department of Athletics meetings.

Serve as designated NCAA Health Care Administrator with responsibility for NCAA Rules and
Regulations Policy Management and Education
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree required
• 5-7 years of experience in intercollegiate athletics
• Preferable, 3-5 years as a head athletic trainer or director of sports medicine
• NATABOC certified
•
Licensed or eligible for SC licensure
• ARC for Professional Rescuer certified
• Previous experience as an administrator is preferred
