Head Athletic Trainer
Belhaven University, a Christ-centered university located in Jackson, MS, is receiving
applications for the position of Head Athletic Trainer. The Head Athletic Trainer provides
primary leadership for the health, safety and well-being of Belhaven University student-athletes
as they train, practice and compete.
Position Overview
The Head Athletic Trainer reports directly to the Vice President and Director of Athletics.
Belhaven is an NCAA Division III institution sponsoring eighteen sport programs and holding
conference membership in the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) and the USA South
Conference (USAS). Belhaven University is also a member of the Council of Christian Colleges
and Universities (CCCU). The Head Athletic Trainer is a full-time, salaried position with
competitive pay, vacation, and holiday offerings. Benefit packages are also available to include
health, dental, vision, retirement, and more. Reimbursement for professional development
(Licensure, CEU’s, dues, etc.) is also available.

Responsibilities
• Provide prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
• Supervise staff members, including assistant athletic trainers, interns, and work-study
students.
• Create and maintain assignment schedules that provide appropriate care for student-
athletes in practice and competition.
• Manage the daily operations of the athletic training room.
• Develop and implement therapeutic exercise programs for athletic programs.
• Apply therapeutic modalities as necessary process.
• Work and collaborate with local health care providers to ensure high quality health care is
provided to the student-athlete population.
• Regularly educate athletics staff on matters pertaining to collegiate sports medicine.
• Direct and supervise CPR/AED training for athletics staff to maintain certifications.
• Maintain documentation in accordance with HIPPA, national, and state regulations.
• Adhere to NATA and state laws of practice related to athletic training
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• The successful candidate must articulate a Christian worldview in their area of service
and must fully support the University Vision, Mission, and Statement of Faith.

• A minimum of five years of athletic training experience, including service in an
intercollegiate athletic setting.
• A minimum of three years of supervisory experience of athletic training staff.
• Graduate of a CAATE program.
• BOC certified.
• Eligible for State of Mississippi licensure.
• CPR/AED certified.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated capacity for accuracy and organization.
• Sound interpersonal skills in working with athletes, coaches, families, department staff,
and university personnel.
