The Head Athletic Trainer for Varsity Sports is responsible for all aspects of care and support related to sports medicine for MSU’s varsity sports program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to supervision of the assistant athletic trainers, management of student workers, physician coordination, development of policies and procedures, insurance claims, operation of the athletic training room and other duties as assigned. Sport assignment will be determined upon hire. This position reports to the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine.
This job requires nights, weekends, some holidays and travel.
Education
The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from an accredited college or university.
Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a
BOC
certified Athletic Trainer is required.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Graduation from a
CAATE
accredited athletic training program.
Athletic Trainer – Board of Certification (
BOC
)
Maryland licensed or eligible for Maryland state licensing
Current
CPR
certification for the health care provider
Preferences
A Master’s Degree in Athletic Training is preferred
Preferred experience in a sports medicine leadership role
Preferred experience in the collegiate setting
