JOB RESPONSIBILITES:
The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, invites applications for the Head Baseball Coach position. The Citadel is a member of the Southern Conference and is a NCAA Division I institution.
This position is expected to devote full-time attention and energies to the duties of Head Baseball Coach including; practice planning, tactical and game strategizing; support, encouragement and mentorship of student-athletes; monitoring and advisement in regards to the academic excellence of student-athletes; imparting of Baseball game and skill knowledge to student-athletes in both individual and team training sessions; collaboration with strength and conditioning coaches on development of training plans for student-athletes; communication and collaboration with sports medicine staff to ensure the health and safety of the student-athletes.
It is expected the Head Baseball coach will exhibit competency with all decision making and administrative reporting in accordance with running the Baseball Program including providing an annual evaluation report, assistant coach evaluations, ordering of supplies, maintaining a balanced budget, financial reporting responsibilities, travel and official scheduling, reporting to the SoCon, camp and clinic paperwork, recruitment reports, knowledge of and compliance with all NCAA, SoCon and Institutional rules and regulations; completion of compliance reports.
Other required skills include supervision and management of the daily activities of all assistant coaches; provide mentorship and guidance; teach sport related skills and tactical decision making; provide performance evaluations and performance improvement plans when required; review and address administrative competency issues; provide opportunities for professional development and growth.
There will be a strong emphasis on successful recruitment of student-athletes that possess the athletic, academic and leadership values consistent with The Citadel and coordination of scholarship generation and reporting with the compliance office and sport supervisor.
The Head Baseball Coach will be expected to fundraise for their program and represent their sport program in the local community by engaging themselves and their team in community service. Coach is expected to represent the institution and the program in accordance with institutional values of Honor, Duty and Respect and support the letter and intent of the military mission and regulations of this institution, contribute to the campus community in a positive manner and encourage student-athletes to succeed in balancing the academic, military and athletic aspects of their education.

A Bachelor’s Degree is required. Must be highly organized and have strong leadership and communication skills. The Citadel demands a thorough knowledge and adherence to institutional, Southern Conference and NCAA rules. Previous experience as a player and coach and a thorough knowledge of the skills required to teach Collegiate Baseball are required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree is preferred. Division I playing and coaching experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Able to meet the physical demands of coaching the game of Baseball. Must be able to work outside in variable weather conditions, be on your feet for long periods of time and be able to travel when required. Ability to work weekends, nights and early mornings is required. Ability to perform drills in both an individual and team setting are required.
