Description
The Head Baseball Coach primary responsibility is to lead the flag football program in a manner that directly aligns with the mission and values of Simpson University and the Simpson University Athletic Department. The Head Baseball Coach will be responsible for oversight and administration of all aspects of the program which will include recruiting, player development, coaching, fundraising, compliance, budget management, and developing a positive and Christ-centered culture.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in sports management, physical education, athletic coaching, recreation or another related field required; Master's degree preferred
2. Five years successful coaching and recruiting experience at collegiate level, with proven record preferred
3. Ability to serve as a strong Christian role model/mentor for student athletes and actively contribute in the spiritual development of athletes

6. Ability to demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and interpersonal, in the performance of job duties
7. Ability to complete tasks that have set deadlines
8. Strong ability to attract, recruit, and develop student-athletes
9. Understanding of how to develop a competitive sports program with knowledge of NCCAA and NAIA rules and regulations
10. Ability to demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and interpersonal
11. Ability to work well in a team environment
12. Must have and maintain valid California driver's license and be able and willing to travel
13. Must have and maintain certification of First Aid and CPR
14. General proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
15. Self-starter, highly motivated and well-organized

Essential Functions:
1. Maintain a strong moral/Christian culture within their sport and with their team
2. Communicate effectively the rules of the sport to the players
3. Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas, and techniques in the sport by attending clinics, reading new information, and networking with other coaches in the profession
4. Help administer the athletic study halls or tutoring for student-athletes who need the extra help
5. Give input to award winners, needed budget items, and budget preparation
6. Accept other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Director of Athletics
7. Recruiting and retaining student-athletes in accordance with NCCAA, NAIA and institutional rules, regulations and guidelines.
8. Organizing, preparing and executing effective practice, strength training and meet strategies.
9. Monitoring and nurturing student-athletes’ academic and personal progress.
10. Managing successfully the daily operations of the baseball program: assisting with budget preparation and management, scheduling, travel arrangements, and meet day organization while maintaining compliance with NCCAA, NAIA, and Simpson University rules and regulations.
11. Assisting with fundraising, alumni activities and public relations as needed.
12. Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
13. Fostering a cooperative work environment and providing mutual support with all constituencies and colleagues.
14. Representing the program and Simpson University with sportsmanship, integrity and professionalism.
Physical Requirements:
Head Coach
Varies depending on the assignment or task, but will include work indoors and outdoors in a variety of conditions (including inclement weather).
Usage of a wide range of still camera and video equipment and supplies, P.C. and Mac computers, a variety of computer software (related to writing, editing, layout, photo editing and content management and website writing, editing and design) as well as general office equipment.
Sitting for long periods of time using a computer. Standing for long periods of time.
