Description

The Head Cheer Coach is responsible for the comprehensive management and leadership of the university’s cheer team. This role encompasses the organization, administration, and coaching of the cheer program, including recruiting, team travel, fundraising, and public relations. The Head Cheer Coach will work closely with students, faculty, alumni, and the community to support and advance the cheer program while adhering to the SIUE Principles Governing Athletics and complying with university, conference, and NCAA Division I regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Management and Administration:
    • Oversee and manage all aspects of the cheer program, including budget, team travel, logistics, and staff coordination.
    • Develop and implement strategies for effective communication and collaboration with students, faculty, alumni, and the community.
    • Ensure compliance with the SIUE Principles Governing Athletics, university, conference, and NCAA Division I rules and regulations.
  • Coaching and Team Development:
  • Lead and conduct team practices, focusing on the development of individual skills and team routines that enhance fan engagement at home games.
  • Monitor and design practice techniques to improve students' fundamental cheerleading skills based on their physical and mental needs.
  • Provide individualized coaching to support each team member’s growth and performance.
