Job Description:

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Athletics for Club Sports, the Head Esports Coach, League of Legendsis responsible for all aspects of the development and administration of a successful Esport Program.

The Roger Williams University Esports team program will be conducted in accordance with the rules of all organizations in the Esports program and currently competingin (CSL and TESPA 2020/2021).The Esport Program will adhere topolicies and regulations of the University's Athletics Department.

Coaching/Teaching Duties

Be available for VOD (Video Reviews) as well as scrimmages.

Be available for coaching during competitive matches.

Analyze games, pinpoint a player's strengths and flaws, and plan out a direction for players to follow.

Teach and develop Esport-specific skills in a successful, safe and prudent manner.

Create, present, and maintain records of up-to-date lesson plans for pre-season/season practice and procedures detailing the desired goals to be achieved.

Schedule practice and game preparation sessions, and conduct post-game analysis and incorporate into lesson plans.

Administrative Duties

Conduct an ongoing recruitment program through a variety of methods with the goal to attract, select and encourage enrollment of high caliber Esport athletes.

Initiate new ideas and methods to improve the program in support of the University goal of a successful season record, and attainment of a regional level ranking.

Additional Functions

Fundraise, when required, for the Esports program and coordinate and support fundraising efforts.

This is a 10-month position.

Requirements:

Must have prior League of Legends coaching experience.

In-depth knowledge of League of Legends.

Minimum of 3+ years experience playing League of Legends,

Ability to comfortably and cohesively explain thoughts.

Open to composition experimentation.

Diamond (or higher) elo.

Available to work a flexible schedule.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to function in a service and team-oriented environment.

Ability to function independently, display strong attention to detail, work under pressure, meet deadlines and prioritize multiple projects.

Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with a variety of individuals, University community including faculty, students, staff, parents and alumni.

Ability to advise and motivate student-athletes.

Must be able to travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum of two years' experience in Esports coaching and knowledge of the fundamentals, tactics, and strategies with the ability to recruit talented players for the program.

Minimum of 5+ years experience playing League of Legends,

Knowledge and ability to conduct an intercollegiate Esports program with professionalism and in likeness to the level of professionalism displayed by collegiate organizations we compete through (CSL and TESPA).

Follows the professional Esports scene.

At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
