As a member of the Saint Joseph’s University Athletics and Recreation Department staff and under the direction of the Assistant Athletics Director for Campus Recreation, the Head Club Coach for Women’s Rugby is responsible for the development of the women’s rugby program through coaching, recruiting, and administration.
Coaching• Responsible for establishing appropriate skill development plans.• Provide instruction in team concepts and sports etiquette.• Travel with the team to all games and tournaments.• Adhere to all medical directives when applicable and as directed, to support all aspects athlete health and safety.Administration• Act as the primary liaison to rugby alumni and parent groups.• Support development through correspondence, direct mailing and newsletters.• Manage USA Rugby eligibility and registration with the MARC.• Manage team travel requests.• Oversee player conduct as applicable to University rules and regulations.• Conduct team meetings.• Maintain timely internal and external communications via email, phone, virtual platforms, etc.• Meet with club leadership to discuss the goals and expectations for each season.• Serve as athlete liaison to Athletics and Recreation Department staff members.• Serve as the coach representative to USA Rugby and MARC. Disseminate applicable information to appropriate Athletics and Recreation staff members.Growth, Development, University Recruitment• Identify and recruit players to attend Saint Joseph’s University.• Represent the University at relevant games, tournaments, and events.• Attend University events (Admitted Students Day, Fall/Spring View) as needed.• Meet with potential students and families on campus as needed.
• Be knowledgeable of the club’s constitution and all other governing documents associated with the club.• Attend leadership meetings and organizational events when applicable.• Be familiar with the Saint Joseph’s University Community Standards and other institutional policies and guidelines that establish expectations for student behavior and activities.• Attend required Athletics and Recreation Department staff meetings and training sessions.
• Position requires frequent evening and weekend hours and frequent travel.
• High school diploma.• Coaching experience.• Playing experience at the Collegiate and/or Club Level.• USA Rugby Level 200 or above certification• Current CPR/AED Certification must be maintained.• Valid driver’s license and successful clearance of motor vehicle record check.• Successful back ground check clearance under Saint Joseph’s University’s “Minors on Campus Policy” (PA Criminal Records Check, FBI Fingerprinting Check and PA Child Abuse Clearance Check).
• Bachelor’s degree.• Coaching experience at the Collegiate Level.
