The University of Pikeville in Pikeville, Kentucky is seeking an innovative professional for the position of Head Bass Fishing Coach within the Athletic Department. The Head Bass Fishing Coach will report directly to the Athletic Director or their designated Assistant Athletic Director.
Responsibilities:
Management and supervision of athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions, to promote individual growth in athletic skills, leadership, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
Management of the Bass Fishing program’s operating budget. Must be able to manage team travel, equipment orders, apparel purchases, and travel expenses while remaining within the allotted budget.
Organize and oversee travel arrangements for the program in conjunction with all Athletic Department policies and procedures.
Lead the recruitment and retention efforts of Student-Athletes. While reaching roster targets and maintaining the scholarship budget for the program.
Work in cooperation with the sports medicine staff to ensure that all team members have completed physicals and have ATS paperwork on file.
Collaborate with faculty and key leaders on campus to support the academic success of the student-athletes.
Schedule and provide supervision of all practice sessions and tournaments. Scheduling will be conducted in conjunction with the Athletic Department and must be approved by the Athletic Director or their designee.
Oversee assistant coaches, graduate assistant coaches, managers, volunteers, and work-study students that are currently or in the future may assist the program in an effort to direct their duties.
Manage and maintain all University facilities utilized by the Bass Fishing program.
Facilitate fundraising efforts for the team to assist the team’s budgetary needs.
Facilitate collaborative relationships among sport coaches, sports medicine, the strength and conditioning staff, and other university departments.
Provide for the safety of students and coaches, facilities and equipment while conducting activities, practices, and competitions.
Work in conjunction with the department of Public Safety to ensure that all team members vehicles and boats are properly registered and stored.

Collaborate with campus constituents to assess, provide and improve the student experience related to the Bass Fishing Program.
Update all necessary documents required by the Athletic Department across various platforms.
Comply with the University credit card policy.
Operate university vehicles.
Complete and maintain all necessary office work.
Display a committed effort to understanding and promoting the University’s mission.
Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
Three to five years of experience coaching at the collegiate level is preferred.
Prior recruiting experience is preferred.
Previous experience managing budgets.
Must be able to work under challenging conditions and with others.
Willing to work late/flexible hours.
Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to utilize technology, including Microsoft Office and Teamworks.
Demonstrate sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, including those with disabilities.
Understand how to work successfully as a team within all levels of the organization and know how to contribute to the mission of the university.
