| Position Summary |
The Head Coach of the Cheer Team is responsible for the coordination, supervision, evaluation, performance and day-to-day operations of the Cheer Team. The Head Coach role is full-time and reports to the Director of Athletic Administration and Marketing.

| Essential Duties |
- Teach, coach, mentor, and inspire student-athletes up through graduation.
- Organize, attend, and supervise all competitions, practices and campus events; teach student-athletes proper skills and skill development in their sport.
- Identify and recruit student performers who are capable of succeeding academically and graduating.
- Maintain precise records of all recruiting contacts in coordination with the Associate Athletic Director responsible for compliance.
- Oversight of tryouts and medical clearance for all participants.
- Responsible for managing the Cheer Team budget, including ordering uniforms and necessary supplies, maintaining expense reports for all recruiting, and travel expenses.
- Schedule practice time.
- Supervise and direct the Cheer Team during men’s and women’s basketball games, including both conference tournaments and any potential NCAA Tournament appearances.
- Follow all policies and procedures set forth by the Office of Athletics Communications related to public relations and social media.
- Plans team-building and morale-building activities for the team.
- Serve as a representative of La Salle University and lead in an exemplary fashion including, but not limited to: Promote principles of sportsmanlike and ethical conduct that supports fundamental values of respect, fairness, civility, honesty, and responsibility among student-athletes, staff and fans; Demonstrate reasonable self-control at contests with players, opposing coaches and players, officials, and fans; Refrain from physical and verbal abuse of student-athletes, referees, or any persons associated with the Atlantic 10 Conference or the University; Accept no speaking engagement for money, endorsements, or any other outside employment at any time without prior approval of the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation.
- Responsible for compliance with all appropriate rules, regulations, processes, and principles including, but not limited to: All rules, regulations, and principles of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Atlantic 10 Conference and any other conference with which the University may have an affiliation; All policies and procedures of La Salle University that are applicable to employment at La Salle, the specific sport program, and to the students and athletes at La Salle, including but not limited to La Salle rules, regulations, policies, procedures, handbooks and manuals; All of the regulations of Title IX related to Athletics in the administration of all-intercollegiate athletic programs, policies, and procedures.
- Promote the general University and Athletics program including, but not limited to: Assist in organization, follow-up and contact of friends of the University for the purpose of recruiting quality student athletes, promoting attendance at games, and promoting the University in general; Regularly communicate with students, faculty, and administration to promote general enthusiasm for the program and attendance at games; Be involved in the total athletic program of the University, including attendance at coaches meeting and support of department goals and objectives.
- Supporting the University’s educational mission by maintaining an environment in which the pursuit of higher education is a priority as may be reflected by the Cheer students class attendance, grade point averages, graduation rates, and NCAA Academic Progress Rates.

| Required Qualifications |
- Bachelors degree in related field and one to three years previous coaching experience.
- Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Demonstrated self-direction and motivaton with the ability to work independently.
- Current CPR, AED and First Aid certifications must be maintained.
- Valid driver’s license and successful clearance of motor vehicle record check.
- Successful background check clearances including, but not limited to, a PA Criminal Records Check, FBI Fingerprinting, and PA Child Abuse Clearance Check.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- At least one year of spirit program/cheerleading coaching is required. Training experience is also a plus.
- Collegiate-level spirit program coaching experience with thorough knowledge of applicable safety standards.
- Vision and ability to build and maintain a Spirit Squad program to include allowable stunting. Knowledge of basic NCAA rules and regulations.
- Strong organizational skills and effective communication skills with supervisor as well as program participants.
- Experience in stunting, spotting, tumbling, cheerleading, dance, choreography and mascot training.
- Experience in any of the following: administration, recreation sports support, business operations, NCAA compliance or marketing and fan experience.

| Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours |
- Evening and weekend work will be necessary during peak times.
- Travel will be required for athletic or other University events.
