Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Business Programs, the Esports Head Coach is responsible for leading the Esports competitive team as well as the Esports Organization/Club and sustaining a student-centered inclusive culture that promotes collaboration, innovation, excellence, and integrity in competition.

This position works in concert with Director to conduct Esports events, schedule matches for students, communicate with fellow coaches from other institutions and manage the esports club’s events. This position will be responsible for the maintenance of the competitive schedule for the students registered with the Esports Varsity Team as well as the events for the larger Esports organization. Additionally, this position will monitor and maintain the Esports Lab on the Clermont Campus.
The Esports Head Coach provides leadership to students in both the competitive Esports team as well as the Esports organization. This position will offer regular training sessions for all students in the Esports club during weekdays, and provide scheduled coaching sessions for the students competing in the NJCAAE league.
The Esports Head Coach provides administrative oversight to the NJCAAE league and communications involved with that organization. Additionally, this position will monitor social media platforms in relation to the Esports organization as a whole and provide oversight for student involvement on communication platforms such as Forums and Discord.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and revise practice and coaching schedules, as needed, to the greatest extent possible within their area of expertise.
• Engage in student recruitment and retention efforts.
• Coordinate competition schedules for all game titles for the student’s competing in the NJCAAE esports leagues.
• Ensure safety and operation of the gaming equipment in the Esports Lab.
• Aligns with students on coaching and guidance needs as they grow within the competitive gaming landscape.

• Collaborate and plan with other coaches and schools across the esports landscape.
• Track and analyze student performance, team events, and recruitment trends to make informed decisions regarding the status of the esports organization’s success and management
• Recruit, supervise, and evaluate at most two additional student workers and staff serving approximately 200 students across the Esports initiative at Lake Sumter State College.
• Work collaboratively with faculty to ensure academic quality while focusing on student retention and completion.

• Collaborate on faculty and staff development initiatives.

• Manage all aspects of live theatre productions, including but not limited to production budgets, acquiring rights, casting calls, rehearsals, building of sets, lighting, costuming, makeup, etc.

• Collaborate with other administrators in development of a class, rehearsal, and performance schedule that meets student needs.

• Assist in the marketing of each production

• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications & Education

• Associate Degree preferred
• High-School Diploma or higher
• Three (3) years of experience in a competitive gaming setting
• Three (3) years of management of people and/or leadership experience

• Individual achievement in various gaming titles with demonstrative high-ranking placements in those titles.

• Experience with the infrastructure for competitive gaming and esports organizations

• Bi-lingual a plus
