The primary function of the Head Flag Football Coach is to facilitate a successful flag football program by coordinating and running all practice and competitions for the program.. The Head Flag Football Coach is responsible for day-to-day coaching responsibilities and will assist in recruitment. This position will also facilitate the coordination of travel, competition management, and equipment management

Essential Functions:

• Coordinate all aspects of a successful flag football program including scheduling and facilitating competition, daily practice plans, player management, and equipment management.Â
• Work in partnership with the Department of Athletics and Office of Admission to recruit new students in order to  meet roster goals for the flag football program.
• Demonstrate a high level of intercultural competence and the ability to work with diverse populations.
• Learn and abide by all applicable policies of governing bodies in which the team participates.
• Collaborate with campus partners on ensuring academic performance and personal development of student-athletes is in alignment with institutional and program goals.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism towards student-athletes, other coaches, parents, administrators, and members of the community.
• Keep abreast of new developments, innovative ideas and techniques in the flag football community.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree, required
• Intercultural competency; ability to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds
• Able to develop and maintain collaborative relationships, engage in creative problem-solving, and extend enlightened hospitality when working with others.
• Valid driver’s license and evidence of insurability, required
• Minimum of two years coaching experience, preferred
• Must understand and value the liberal arts experience for students at Illinois College, especially including participation in other sports, clubs and organizations, and having an academic experience
• First Aid and AED certification, preferred
• Ability to work weekdays, weekends, and some evenings
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Possess an outcomes-oriented approach to coaching
• Ability to lift 30 pounds
