Midland University, a private, faith-based, liberal arts university in Fremont, Nebraska (just outside of metro Omaha), is accepting applications for Head Coach for Women's Basketball. Midland is seeking a candidate who demonstrates a philosophy that emphasizes excellence in all areas of our student-athlete achievement and helps the program succeed on a national level.
The Women's Basketball program competes in the Great Plains Athletic Conference, one of the top NAIA conferences in the nation. The largest athletic program in Nebraska, Midland offers 33 varsity sports and is home to more than 900 student athletes.
Key Job Duties & Responsibilities:
• Representing Midland University
• Recruiting and retaining qualified student-athletes for the women's basketball program
• Provide coaching to student-athletes regarding all aspects of basketball training and competition
• Court preparation for practices and competitions
• Coordinating competition schedule. practice sessions, team travel, and equipment purchase
• Promotes and cultivates a cohesive team with an emphasis on excellence and community
• Establish and maintain relationships with regional and national athletic associations
• Establish and maintain relationships with campus health services, student affairs, and the Student Success Center
• Counsel students on general and sports-related matters, referring to appropriate sources as necessary.
• Ensure personal behavior and program reputation are in alignment with Midland University's mission and core values
• Ensure team compliance with all league, conference, and institutional rules and regulations
Experience Needed:
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience coaching basketball at the collegiate or equivalent level
• Experience recruiting high school and/or college student-athletes
• Experience as a collegiate athlete preferred
Education, Licensure & Certification Needed:
• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, required
• Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable through the University
• A valid CDL license (or can obtain one shortly after starting in the role)
Skills & Abilities Needed:
• Current and working knowledge of basketball techniques and training methods
• A self-starter with a positive attitude and strong relationship-building skills
• Ability to resolve issues independently
• Good organizational skills
• Good interpersonal communication skills
• A working understanding of basic software applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel
