Description

Friends University is seeking to fill the Head Coach Cross Country and Assistant Coach Track & Field position in Wichita Kansas. This position will oversee all aspects of the Men’s and Women’s cross country and track distance programs including, training, recruiting, budgeting, academic oversight, PR, & meet management. The position will also play a major role in the Track and Field Season as an assistant coach working primarily with the distance events 800m and up, including the Racewalk. Other responsibilities will include:

• Supervision and management of the Friends University Cross Country and Track Distance program. This includes development, execution and assessment of plans for: budget management, personnel management, recruitment, retention, student-athlete development, and day-to-day operations of the program. Operations include communication regarding facility needs, planning and facilitating practices and game day strategies, and collaboration with the Director of Track, Admissions, Financial Aid, FAR, and athletic administration.
• Actively participate in athletic department meetings, committees, and initiatives.
• Develop fund raising projects and collaborate with the Advancement Department to identify and cultivate donors.

Qualifications

Two to four years of coaching experience preferred; College coaching and effective recruitment experience preferred.

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.

Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are necessary. The ability to motivate and influence others is material to this position. Requires diplomacy, ability to garner trust of others and maintain confidential information. Ability to lead in an inclusive and developmental manner.

This position requires strong financial management, time management and personnel management skills. The individual possess acute understanding of sport preparation and facilitation.
