Head Coach, Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field

The University is looking for a Head Coach to provide direction, supervision, and operational leadership of the Cross Country and Track & Field programs in keeping with the mission of the institution. The head coach reports to the Director of Athletics.

Responsibilities

• Responsible to be a spiritual, academic, and athletic mentor/leader to the Cross Country and Track & Field teams, integrating the mission of the University (“A Christian community providing education for leadership and service”) and the Athletic Department’s motto (Christian-Scholar-Athlete) into the program.
• Responsible to know and abide by the rules of the National Collegiate Athletic Association – Division II (NCAA D-II) and the Gulf South Conference
• Responsible to know current Trevecca Nazarene University rules and policies.
• Responsible for implementing and guiding athletes towards the athletic department vision of Christian-Scholar-Athlete (including team philosophy, team morale, and team culture).
• Responsible for Recruiting, reaching Target Numbers, and Roster Management.
• Responsible for oversight and allocation of scholarship budget and operations budget.

• Responsible for Recruiting, reaching Target Numbers, and Roster Management.
• Responsible for oversight and allocation of scholarship budget and operations budget.
• Responsible for hiring assistant coaching staff.
• Responsible for the advancement and development of assistant coaches.
• Responsible for assigning specific event duties to assistant coaches (distance, middle distance, sprints, throws, and jumps).
• Responsible for creating all practice and training schedules (when and where).
• Responsible for setting the season’s schedule as well as adding any additional meets/events as needed for national qualification purposes.
• Responsible for organizing and executing all Travel Logistics.
• Responsible for Travel Party Roster.
• Responsible for all equipment and uniform purchases and credit card reconciliation.
• Responsible to make sure all USTFCCCA dues are paid, and guidelines for NCAA submissions are met.
• Responsible for knowing the academic status and eligibility of each athlete.
• Responsible for engaging with the administration about the program’s status, needs, and ways to implement future growth.
• Responsible for any other details of their sport or any other additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required
• The University requires that all candidates must be comfortable with and in agreement with the mission and lifestyle values of Trevecca Nazarene University.
• Demonstrated experience and competence in Cross Country and Track & Field
• Ability to pass the annual NCAA Division II recruiting exam
• Ability to obtain and maintain current First Aid and CPR card
• Ability to obtain TNU driving certification
• Ability to use standard computer software

Additional “Preferred” Qualifications

• Master’s Degree
• Successful collegiate level head coaching experience
• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
