Job Summary

Provides leadership of all facets of the men’s and women’s fencing program to ensure a quality program and successful Division I team. Actively builds, monitors, and promotes a standard of excellence in academic success, compliance, community service, diversity and inclusion, and student health and safety. Recruits and oversees student-athletes including training and competition. Monitors and supports academic success of student-athletes. Builds and maintains public awareness of the program. Performs other functionally relevant duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or state recognized equivalent.
• One (1) year of experience coaching fencing at the high school, collegiate or equivalent level.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to establish driver eligibility under CSU’s Motor Vehicle Policy.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferably in sports management or related field.
• Three (3) years of head coaching experience in collegiate fencing.
• Familiarity with Northeast Ohio region.
• Professional experience in a urban higher education environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

• Knowledge of NCAA and conference rules and legislation and committed to abiding by them.
• Strong organizational and excellent interpersonal skills and have a “Customer Focus” attitude and delivery.
• Possess the ability to effectively plan and coordinate, establish and maintain effective working relationships and prioritize workloads based on available resources.
• Possess the ability to manage projects, meet deadlines and tackle emergencies and difficult situations.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills and decision-making abilities.
• Possess a high degree of confidentiality to available information.
