Purpose: Responsible for instructing student athletes in the rules and fundamentals of men's and women's golf; and determining fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques.
Duties:
Plans and implements the operation of both the men's and women's golf programs
Recruit both men and women golfers
Share responsibility for administration/implementation of budget spending for both men's and women's budgets
Maintains current knowledge and abides by NCAA/HCAC/GCAA/WGCA policies, rules, and procedures
Maintains necessary records
Monitors eligibility for men's and women's golf
Monitor study tables for academic retention and assist in the advising of students on their academic progress
Attends NCAA/HCAC/GCAA/WGCA meetings, clinics, and seminars
Works closely with Sports Information
Responsible for safety of players during tournaments, practice, travel
Purchases and maintains equipment and uniforms
Makes travel arrangements
Schedules and organizes team related activities
Promotes players for recognition
Demonstrates integrity and upholds the values and mission of the University
Supports total athletic program
Assists in weight room supervision
Supervise open gymnasium as needed and as permitted by NCAA Bylaws for safety purposes
Committee assignments and other duties appropriate to skills and training as assigned by supervisors
Contributes to team effort by welcoming new and different work requirements; exploring new opportunities to enhance the services of the division; helping others accomplish related job results as and where needed
Primary Contacts: Department Director, coaching staff, Athletic Training staff, Recreation Coordinators, Coordinator of Athletic and Recreation Facilities, Administrative Assistant, student employees, Student Affairs staff, Admission staff, prospective students and families, enrolled students, Registrar, Faculty Athletic Representative, and other members of the University community as well as the local and outside community.
Supervision Exercised: Student Work Study
Supervision Received: Works toward a previously defined objective and uses a wide range of procedures exercising discretion and judgment; consulting and referring to the Director of Athletics as appropriate.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelors, Masters Degree preferred
Experience: High school and college coaching and demonstrated ability and commitment towards diversity, equity, and inclusion
Specialized Training: Proficient in use of: Coaching, University vans, copier, First Aid, and CPR
