Job Summary/Basic Function:

• Develop and implement comprehensive training programs to enhance the skills and performance of student-athletes.
• Plan and oversee daily practices, ensuring they are conducted safely and effectively.
• Lead the team during competitions, providing strategic direction and in-game adjustments.
• Foster a positive and supportive environment that encourages academic success, personal growth, and athletic excellence.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to student-athletes, helping them balance their academic, athletic, and personal responsibilities.
• Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes, ensuring compliance with NCAA and university academic standards.
• Develop and execute a strategic recruitment plan to attract high-quality student-athletes.
• Build and maintain relationships with high school coaches, athletic directors, and prospective student-athletes.
• Implement retention strategies to keep student-athletes engaged and committed to the program.
• Ensure the program operates within the guidelines and regulations set by the NCAA, conference, and university.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to recruitment, eligibility, and team activities.
• Collaborate with the athletics department on budget management, scheduling, and other administrative tasks.
• Represent the program positively in the community, fostering strong relationships with fans, alumni, and local organizations.
• Participate in community service initiatives and promote the program’s involvement in community activities.
• Engage in fundraising activities and support the athletics department's efforts to generate financial support for the program.
• Stay current with developments in coaching techniques, training methods, and NCAA regulations.
• Pursue opportunities for professional growth, including attending conferences, workshops, and other educational activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree
Valid Driver’s License
Two or more years of experience as a head coach or two or more years experience as an assistant coach at the collegiate level
Thorough knowledge of institutional, NCAA and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rules, policies and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters Degree

Physical Demands:

Adequate health and fitness to maintain long hours, full schedule, and travel with teams, as required. Use of gross motor skills for instruction of the team; ability to represent the University in public appearances, promotional and recruiting activities.

Work Hours:

In addition to Mon-Fri, weekends and evening expected.
