Provide leadership for the basketball program
Obtain knowledge of current NJCAA, FCSAA, and Conference rules and regulations regarding all areas of compliance.
Develop and manage a recruiting plan.
Plan, supervise, and conduct practices appropriately to prepare for competition.
Schedule all games and travel plans for the team.
Coordinate all aspects of game day event operations.
Assist with academic advising of student athletes.
Monitor academic progress and eligibility status for all members of the team.
Monitor athletes on housing scholarship
Manage the budget for all aspects of the team.
Assist in a variety of fundraising activities for the sport and the department.
Maintain respective facilities and inventory of equipment.
Request maintenance and repairs as required.
Coordinate communication with web manager as well as local media awareness.
Participate in campus and community service projects.
Organize and administer youth sports camps and clinics.
Attend all related meetings as required.
Maintain appropriate office hours
Perform other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises part-time assistant coaches. (One to three assistant coaches) depending on availability and funds available.
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree from an institutional accredited college or university, and two years of coaching experience required.
Head coaching experience preferred.

The ability to work flexible hours, nights, evening, and weekends and work beyond the number of hours in regular work week. Ability to work outdoors as required by the nature of some sports. Ability to learn and implement first aid and CPR skills, weight training and conditioning programs as well as other related coaching certifications. Ability to travel during the week, nights and weekends and possible stay extended days for state and national tournaments.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. This individual must be reasonably good physical and mental condition. They must be able to demonstrate skills and techniques related to their sport and must be able to endure the long stressful work weeks associated with coaching. Must be capable of driving to away games which is a requirement for this position.
The ability to perform basic maintenance and operations skills i.e. setting up facilities for practices and games. This could include lifting up to 50 pounds manually or with an apparatus such as a dolly.
