Head Coach, Men’s Lacrosse (Part-time)

Cairn University’s Department of Athletics is seeking to fill the part-time position of Head Coach for Men’s Lacrosse. Cairn University is a NCAA Division III school and participates in the United East Conference.

Located in Langhorne, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Cairn University exists to educate students to serve Christ in the church, society, and the world as biblically minded, well-educated and professionally competent men and women of character. Students earn bachelor’s degrees in various areas including Bible, Education, Music, and Business Administration; and graduate degrees in Business, Divinity, Education, Organizational Leadership, Worship and Music, and Counseling.

Coaching responsibilities include oversight of all aspects of the program including:

• Adhere to all rules, regulations and policies of the University, Athletics Department, and associated athletics conference.
• Model Christ-like behavior during all aspects of coaching, including practices and during games/events.
• Invest into the lives of the players and develop them as competitors, student-athletes, and as followers of Christ.
• Meet the assigned recruiting goals and maintain the roster size for each year.
• Coordinate travel to effectively recruit student-athletes, and to support the day-to-day operation of the Men’s Lacrosse program.
• Monitor the social behavior of all coaches and student-athletes in the Men’s Lacrosse program.
• Monitor acceptable academic performance, not just to remain eligible, but to maximize the pursuit of a college degree.
• Retain and graduate a satisfactory number of recruited student athletes.
• Implement team and individual practices/development programs.
• Provide budget oversight for the Men’s Lacrosse program.
• Assist the Director of Sports Communications with marketing and promotions materials.
• Participate in community and campus life opportunities.
• Work with members of the Athletic Department to build enthusiasm amongst students, staff, alumni and parents for the sport and the team.
• Create game and athletic season traditions that build the Cairn Highlander experience.
• Assist the Athletic Department in the recording of stats and game analysis. In addition, assist in the effective marketing and imagery of the team in news releases, web articles and social media.
• Coordinate schedules, travel, uniform needs, vehicle use, and other details with members of the Athletics department and other University departments as needed.
• Provide supervision for assistant coach(es).
• Meet regularly with the Athletics Department for meetings and training sessions.
• Perform duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree preferred; Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required
• Valid Driver’s License
• Minimum 2-5 years of lacrosse coaching experience; Head or Assistant coaching experience at collegiate level preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules, the UE Conference, and a commitment to the academic development of student-athletes required.
