Position Summary: 

Long Island University (LIU) is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and visionary leader to serve as the Head Coach for its NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer program. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management, leadership, and direction of the program, including strategic planning, coaching, recruitment, player development, academic support, community engagement, and compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations. The Head Coach will play a key role in fostering a competitive, student-centered environment committed to academic and athletic excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Leadership & Culture: Provide strategic leadership to develop and sustain a competitive Division I Men’s soccer program that reflects the mission and values of LIU. Establish a strong team culture emphasizing accountability, respect, hard work, and academic success.

  • Coaching & Player Development: Plan and lead all training sessions, match preparation, in-game coaching, and player evaluations. Foster individual and team development through technical instruction, tactical guidance, and mental performance strategies.

  • Recruitment: Develop and implement a comprehensive recruiting strategy to attract high-caliber student-athletes who meet both academic and athletic standards. Build and maintain effective relationships with prospective athletes, their families, and coaches at the high school and club levels.

  • Academic Oversight: Monitor the academic progress and welfare of student-athletes, working in collaboration with academic support personnel to ensure compliance with institutional and NCAA academic standards. Promote a culture of academic excellence.

  • Compliance: Ensure full compliance with all NCAA, conference, and university policies and procedures. Maintain the highest level of integrity and ethical standards within the program.

  • Staff Supervision: Hire, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches and support staff. Foster a positive and professional working environment.

  • Budget & Operations Management: Develop and manage the program budget responsibly, including travel, equipment, recruiting, and other operational needs. Coordinate team travel, scheduling, and logistical planning.

  • Fundraising & External Relations: Partner with Athletics Administration to support fundraising initiatives, donor engagement, and promotional opportunities that enhance the program's growth and sustainability
