Job Description

Administer, coach, and train student athletes for Tier 1 sport to provide a successful intercollegiate competition experience for LMU student athletes.

  1. Plan and conduct team and individual practice and training, establish competitive playing schedule in accordance with institutional direction, make and coordinate travel arrangements, prepare and manage budget including equipment procurement, develop and coordinate home game management, arrange facility use for practice and competition, work with selected athletic department staff to achieve goals as required/requested, and conduct long range planning.

  2. Select, develop, supervise, and evaluate assigned assistant coaches and support staff, and prepare task assignments based on job descriptions, for assistant coaches and support staff as well.

  3. Recruit athletically and academically qualified student-athletes, develop and establish recruiting area and networks, monitor initial and continuing academic eligibility, and manage grant-in-aid budget.

  4. Conduct all aspects of program in accordance with the rules and policies established by Loyola Marymount University, the Athletics Department, the West coast Conference, and the NCAA. Complete all compliance information as directed by the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance

  5. Project a positive image of athletics and the university within the LMU community and with the extended community. Assist with fundraising, marketing, and promotional activities, develop and establish a community involvement. Participate in public relations activities, participate in LMU Summer Camp program as appropriate, and provide leadership to the Athletic Department by encouraging support of athletic programs and actively supporting them with attendance at events.

  6. Work compatibly and cooperatively with the staff and personnel in the university and athletic department
     

Requisite Qualifications

Typically, a bachelor's degree.
Demonstrated coaching expertise in planning and directing a skilled and successful athletic team.
Exhibit behavior that supports the mission, vision, and values of the university. Communicate and employ interpersonal actions that model high standards of professional, responsible, accountable, and ethical conduct. Demonstrate a commitment to outstanding customer service.
Conduct all aspects of program in accordance with the rules and policies established by Loyola Marymount University, the Athletics Department, all Sports Conference Affiliations, and the national Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
