The Head Coach, Men’s & Women’s Cross Country and Assistant Coach, Softball is responsible for all aspects of planning, managing, and developing a successful intercollegiate Cross Country and Women’s Softball program in accordance with the standards and goals set by William Peace University.

ESSENTIAL
DUTIES
AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the individual holding this position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
Adhere to all applicable
NCAA
and University regulations that relate to recruiting, daily program management and operation of the individual sport.
Recruit quality student-athletes by personal contact, phone and written correspondence with players, coaches, and parents.
Evaluate ability of prospects in person or through videotape analysis.
Make frequent off-campus trips to watch games/matches/meets.
Arrange on-campus visits for prospective student athletes while ensuring compliance with
NCAA
guidelines for contacting and entertaining prospects.
Coordinate roster goals annually with the Director of Athletics or their designee, ensuring alignment with enrollment goals of the University.
Schedule games, practices, facility, and vehicle use in conjunction with the Director of Athletics and other
WPU
staff.
Schedule, plan, and lead practices.
Evaluate team and individual performance.
Develop and implement strategies for motivating student athletes to perform at maximum levels as both individuals and as a team.
Oversee, with the athletic trainer, a conditioning program to ensure that athletes are physically prepared for competition.
Oversee the selection, purchase, fitting and maintenance of team equipment including uniforms and supplies. Submit equipment and budget requests to the Director of Athletics.
Ensure the safety of student-athletes and staff through careful monitoring of the condition of equipment and facilities utilized by the Men’s & Women’s Cross Country and Women’s Softball.
Oversee the rehabilitation, in conjunction with the athletic trainer, to ensure that injured athletes are capable and ready to return to practice/games.
Develop a competitive schedule in conjunction with the Director of Athletics.
Coordinate team travel.
Assist with home athletic event game management.
Monitor the eligibility status and promote the academic progress of student-athletes.
Compile and report statistical data after each game/season.
Assist with approved fundraising activities, as requested.
Participate in, organize, and lead clinics, exhibitions, and camps, as approved.
Attend Athletic Department staff meetings.
Perform other job-related duties and projects assigned.
SUPERVISORY
RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises Assistant Coach in all aspects of team management.
Responsible for ensuring that all assistants are in compliance with both
NCAA
and University rules and regulations.
Responsible for campus facilities and equipment during practices/home sporting events.

Ability to work in all climates and weather such as hot, cold, humid, rainy, and sunny conditions.
Ability to demonstrate proper techniques and form of exercises.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to communicate in audible tones so that others understand clearly, adjusting volume at practices, games, and other events as required.
Exhibit manual dexterity to operate both office and sport related equipment.
Frequently is required to walk, sit, stand, and reach with hands and arms.

The position requires significant physical activity.
Work is mostly performed outdoors with occasional exposure to adverse or extreme climate and weather conditions such as wind, sun, and hot or cold temperatures and with noise levels varying from moderate to loud.
May encounter bodily fluids.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates who apply within established recruitment dates are required to meet the minimum qualifications to be considered for employment. Minimum qualifications are the absolute smallest amount of experience and education that provide the ability to determine if the candidate could potentially perform well in the position. Preferred are the qualifications that enable a candidate to potentially excel in the position.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized college/university
Valid driver’s license
AED

CPR
and First Aid certification per
NCAA
regulations. All registrations are required by the
NCAA
and
USA
South Athletic Conference.
Preferred Qualifications
Collegiate coaching and/or playing experience.
