ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:
The Head Coach of the Mens Soccer program, is responsible for the leadership, direction, and oversight of all aspects of the soccer program, including practice planning, recruitment, competition, academic oversight, fundraising, and facility management. The Head Coach will also play a key role in advancing the mission of the Athletics Department and College. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership skills, a commitment to student-athlete development, and a thorough understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Coaching & Player Development
Plan, organize, and supervise practices, training sessions, and competitive games.
Provide individual and team instruction to improve student-athlete performance.
Promote sportsmanship, integrity, and academic achievement.
Recruiting
Develop and execute a comprehensive recruiting strategy to maintain a full, competitive roster, including the goals for resident students
Team roster goals will be established by the Athletic Director and communicated to the coach prior to the start of the new academic year.
Fundraising & Program Advancement
Lead all soccer-related fundraising initiatives, including events, donor engagement, and campaigns, with particular attention to securing support prior to travel deemed exceptional or exceeding standard team scheduling.
Raise a minimum of 10% of the program’s scholarship budget annually.
Scholarship fundraising goals to be established by the Athletic Director and communicated to the coach prior to the start of the new academic year.
Coordinate with College Advancement to ensure compliance with institutional process and protocols.
Academic Oversight
Monitor academic progress of student-athletes and enforce study hall requirements.
Foster a team culture that supports academic success and graduation.
Compliance
Maintain compliance with institutional, conference, and national governing body (e.g., NCAA) rules and regulations.
Submit rosters, eligibility forms, and reports as required by the athletic department.
Team Management
Supervise assistant coaches and support staff.
Develop team policies and manage disciplinary matters appropriately.
Coordinate travel logistics for practices, competitions, and events.
Facilities & Equipment
Manage maintenance and scheduling of soccer facilities.
Oversee the inventory and upkeep of team equipment and uniforms.
Public Relations
Represent the college positively in the community and at public events.
Promote the soccer program through media, social platforms, and outreach efforts.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
KEY COMPETENCIES:
Proven success in player development and recruitment.
Must have good communication skills, interpersonal skills and strong leadership characteristics.
CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days).
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Experience managing a program budget and scholarship allocation.
