Head Coach of Field Hockey

The Head Coach of Field Hockey (Assistant Director 3) provides leadership and direction for the Kean Field Hockey program. Reporting to the Director of Athletics and Recreation, the Head Coach will coordinate the operations, coaching and cultivation of Kean’s Division III team and its student-athletes. This includes, but is not limited to: recruitment and retention of student-athletes; scheduling; fundraising; travel arrangements; budget; compliance with NCAA and NJAC rules and regulations; and related work as required. This individual will support the mission of the university and bring knowledge and passion for the game of Field Hockey. This is a 12 month position which requires travel, including overnight trips and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree and two years of intercollegiate coaching experience and/or professional experience in the sport of field hockey, as well as demonstrated skills in developing and motivating student athletes for athletic, academic and personal success is required. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Thisposition requires the ability to perform essential functions that requirephysical activityincluding, but not limited to: the ability to lift, handle and transport materials and equipment over short and long distances weighing up to 50 pounds, walking long distances, standing for long durations of time outdoors/indoors in varied temperatures, and exposure to high noise levels.
